Sunday Inspiration: Volume 2.7

The Interesting Woman by REVUE

Sentiment of the week: “When she does not find love, she may find poetry. Because she does not act, she observes, she feels, she records; a color, a smile awakens profound echoes within her; her destiny is outside her, scattered in cities already built, on the faces of men already marked by life, she makes contact, she relishes with passion and yet in a manner more detached, more free, than that of a young man. Being poorly integrated in the universe of humanity and hardly able to adapt herself therein, she, like the child, is able to see it objectively; instead of being interested solely in her grasp on things, she looks for their significance; she catches their special outlines, their unexpected metamorphoses. She rarely feels a bold creativeness, and usually she lacks the technique of self-expression; but in her conversation, her letters, her literary essays, her sketches, she manifests an original sensitivity. The young girl throws herself into things with ardor, because she is not yet deprived of her transcendence; and the fact that she accomplishes nothing, that she is nothing, will make her impulses only the more passionate. Empty and unlimited, she seeks from within her nothingness to attain All.” ― Simone de Beauvoir, The Second Sex

Here’s what is currently inspiring us: Women who claim - boldly, ardently, creatively - that they are interesting within all crevices of their multi-faceted ways of being, the deep resonance of art that touches upon our mutual strings of inspiration, these earrings, rainy days where you feel as if your home is a cocoon, the comfort of a full body stretch, taking yourself on a solo date sans phone, this sweater, wondering and dreaming and meeting your quantum leap, terra cotta floors, love letters to yourself in the form of choosing positive thoughts, rewatching old movies from your childhood, journaling and journaling and journaling as a practice of moving inner energy and emotions, this moisturizer, the wonderful silence in the moments right before the sun rises, committing to the romance in your life whether that is with a partner or with you, deeply knowing more is coming for you, the smell of a new book, that first sip of coffee, the unequivocal love you have for yourself.

What we are consuming this week:

Brand of the week: Introducing REVUE: If you would be so kind to indulge us, in honor of launch day we are highlighting ourselves this week to welcome you, thank you, and invite you even further into our world. We are overjoyed that you are here - here being REVUE; our personal muse and the muse to the modern woman. The inklings of REVUE were started over a year before she was even crafted and created. Both of us, on different timelines, were feeling that the mass-consuming of content was suffocating our creativity. Suddenly, the ever-increasing bubble of social media was leaving us uninspired and apathetic. We were looking for genuine creations - the spark that comes through the work of a brilliant artist who has had the time to mature their ideas. We were looking for elevation - embracing a luxurious life as we settled into our thirties as mothers. We were looking for quality - the ultimate rarity in a world of quantity and over-consumption. For months, these ideas percolated our own minds separately until we finally met in June of 2024. The rest, as they say (and if we dare quote a cliche), is history. We built REVUE as seasoned entrepreneurs who were craving the next level of artistry, creativity, and luxury in our own lives. We built REVUE for the most interesting woman in the room; and for those who want to ignite that archetype within themselves. We built REVUE for a world that, whether they can admit it or not, yearns for the deep-rooted principles of quality, artistry, and luxury.

Welcome to the REVUE world.

Sincerely, Gabrielle Scout & Hannah Wells, Co-Founders of REVUE

Introducing The Interesting Woman: In pursuit of creating a newsletter for the most interesting woman in the room, we knew that we wanted to enter into the minds and worlds of other creatives that we admired. Every week, REVUE will be profiling an interesting woman or individual that has the audacity to live within their distinct point of view. A deep dive into a person’s world: what makes them tick, why they are trying to prove themselves, how they ooze their soul out into their projects, why they chose the things that they chose, and, of course, what they were wearing that day. Introducing the first three profiles that will be launching over the next three Sundays: Liat Baruch: celebrity stylist, Pia Mance: founder of Heaven Mayhem, and Ryan Saghian: award-winning interior designer. Come back next week to read all about the queen of quiet luxury, Liat Baruch.

Artist of the week: In honor of Valentine’s Day (a day we see as an invitation to love ourselves more, love those around us more, love our lives more), here are pieces from a plethora of artists who have utilized the color red (or pink!). Colors that evoke passion and romance (or rage). Colors that make you feel something. Colors that do not hide, calm, or revert into the background. Colors that, no matter if you like it or not, take center stage whenever they are presented. All artists are featured on Tappan Collective here.

Ritual to implement: Waking up before your children, just ever so slightly, and relishing in the ten, twenty, thirty minutes you have given to yourself; the alone time that will carry your soul’s alignment through the day.

Place to daydream about: Hôtel du Couvent, the luxury hotel that has the trifecta: an old world charm, a cooling neutral affect with limewash walls, and a minimalistic yet traditional decor. Come for the gardens, the architecture, the interiors, and the Saturday neighborhood farmers market. A luxury trip that breathes peace, history, and tranquillity. To book a stay at Hôtel du Couvent, click here.

Spiritual insight of the week: "Creativity is the natural order of life. Each of us is born with an innate ability to create, yet over time, we often bury this gift beneath layers of fear, self-doubt, and societal expectations. The journey back to our creative essence begins when we give ourselves permission to explore, to play, and to dream again. When we create, we align with a higher force—a divine energy that flows through us and longs to express itself in the world. Our job is not to force inspiration but to clear the blocks that prevent it from flowing freely. Remember, you don’t have to be perfect to create; you just have to begin. Creativity isn’t about the outcome—it’s about the process of becoming fully alive." Julia Cameron, The Artist’s Way

What’s on our wishlist: No. 10 Black Belt by AUREUM

Home of the week: The Los Angeles based home belonging to the founders of Studio MUKA; a deep blend of the Persian and Uzbek lineages of owners Neda Kakhsaz and Zabie Mustafa infused with a modernity that promotes immediate dwelling. This home is filled with homages, artistic displays, and a soothing yet distinct point of view. Photographed by William Jess Laird. Featured in Architectural Digest.

Nostalgic for: The glory days of magazines in the 90’s and early 2000s. The anticipation of an issue being delivered to your doorstep. The fact that you had to wait an entire month to receive it. The idea that there was a beginning and an end; an entire world within the life of physical pages.

Questions to ask the dinner table:

  • Who is the most creative person you know, and why do they inspire you?

  • How do you define “inner peace,” and when was the last time you felt it?

  • What belief about yourself have you recently outgrown?

Question to ask yourself this week: Where can I love myself - the inner parts of me, the younger parts of me - even more?

The Founder’s Edit: Products, goods, and everyday luxuries we are adoring.

Have a beautiful week. Until next Sunday.

Sincerely,

The REVUE Team
