The Most Interesting Woman in the Room

Sentiment of the week: “I wish someone had told me that love isn’t torture. Because I thought love was this thing that was supposed to tear you in two and leave you heartbroken and make your heart race in the worst way. I thought love was bombs and tears and blood. I did not know that it was supposed to make you lighter, not heavier. I didn’t know it was supposed to take only the kind of work that makes you softer. I thought love was war. I didn’t know it was supposed to… I didn’t know it was supposed to be peace.” ― Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & The Six
Here’s what is currently inspiring us: Calle lilies, early strolls to dinner, coffee first thing in the morning, choosing to create something beautiful in your life, this perfectly pink tinted lip oil, bowls of fresh fruit, trips to the Guadalupe Valle, writing personal essays just because, pausing mid-day to read outside, collecting books, the pursuit of philosophy, afternoon glasses of Sauvignon Blanc, frolicking around your home naked, listening to Etta James, creating a wishlist of purchases so that you consciously spend on investment pieces versus frivolous in-the-moment decisions, believing in luxury as a way of life, creating art for you and not for anyone else, these jeans over and over and over again, a lover whispering sweet nothings into your ear, knowing that your people are your lifeline, romanticizing the act of reading poetry, being the own editor-in-chief of your life.

Brand of the week: RÙADH is a self-proclaimed new denim frequency that upon first glance, immediately jolts our aesthetic sensibilities like a craved alignment. Their jeans are structural yet fluid; crafted with cherished energy versus through the lens of mass-consumption. In addition to being a brand that lives between the scales of beauty and strength, RÙADH also has an emphasis on ecological balance and is B Corp Pending Certified. Built by Scottish Creative Director Jac Cameron who moved to New York City in the early ‘00s, this brand is both “sensory and instinctual, yet fiercely pragmatic.” On our wishlist: The Quinn Jean, The Archer Jean Renee, The Staffa Skirt. Artist of the week: Paul Cézanne - the French painter who is known as the father of modern art for his key contribution in bridging the gap between Impressionism and Cubism. Known for his still life and landscape portraits, his painting technique begins birthed the foundation for those like Pablo Picasso to fully mature the Cubism movement. Rich and romantic with magnitudes of depth, a Cézanne will always stand the artistic and historic salute.

Ritual to implement: Closing your eyes and taking three deep breaths throughout the day; to break up work, to break up tasks, to break up transitions. Returning to your breathe in small ways throughout the day to maintain a level of internal grounding and connection.
Place to daydream about: Silverlake Pool & Inn is a Palisociety hotel that has a Midcentury-meets-the-desert flair. This gem of a hotel feels more like Palm Springs than it does Los Angeles with its poolside palm trees and its rooftop energy. To book a stay at Silverlake Pool & Inn, click here.

Personal insight of the week: “What you most want and your Unique Ability are connected. You must embrace that you yourself are a unique individual. You’ve got to value your own uniqueness, which also means valuing and appreciating the uniqueness of everyone else. Committing to your Unique Ability—the thing you want to do and which excites you most—takes extreme commitment and courage. It takes not worrying about what anyone else thinks about what you do and how you live. You’ve got to fully bet on yourself.” ― Dan Sullivan, 10x Is Easier Than 2x: How World-Class Entrepreneurs Achieve More by Doing Less
What’s on our wishlist: Oversized Collared Leather Jacket by COS
Reordering this week: Restorative Mask by Oak Essentials
Home of the week: This 19th century estate has been transformed from ruins to a contemporary masterpiece by the architecture studio Goma Taller. Remote, tranquil, silent, yet posessing a distinct spirit, this sanctuary lives in Querataro, Mexico. Photography by Uta Gleiser and Cesar Bejar. Featured in AD Mexico.

Nostalgic for: When you possessed the naiveté necessary to do hard things without having the conscious awareness that they were hard.
Questions to ask at the dinner table:
If your life were a painting, what would the central theme or image be?
What childhood passion have you not revisited but would love to explore again?
If your favorite piece of art could come to life, how would it change the world?
Question to ask yourself this week: Where am I waiting on motivation and inspiration versus relying on discipline?
