The Interesting Woman by REVUE

Sentiment of the week: “He smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced--or seemed to face--the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
Here’s what is currently inspiring us: Snakeskin bags, the comfort of sleeping in, fresh white flowers, the way the ocean glimmers under a blue sky, the first sip of coffee in the morning, reading a book in the middle of the day, eating lunch outside, rereading old journals, complimenting strangers, perusing art galleries, window shopping as a way to exercise your imagination, afternoons in bed naked, laugh attacks with your girlfriends, this Charles Bukowski poem, reinventing yourself with a new uniform, the idea that there are parts of you that are untapped, unfulfilled, and unexplored, reading physical magazines, indie bookstores that smell like creativity, integrating your past self with your new self, neutral nails, this dress, sunsets that ground your nervous system and pause your perspective.
What we are consuming this week:
Brand of the week: It is hard not to fall absolutely in love with Gabriela Hearst - whether it is her vision that comes through in her clothing or her mind as she talks about her philosophy around being a woman. Her Fall 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection has already had us skipping past summer and daydreaming of suits, brown palettes, tailored silhouettes, and feminine practices - of leather, suede, snakeskin, and decadent fabrics. Forgive us as we transport you to a future season. Here are our favorites. To view the rest of this collection, click here. To shop Gabriela Hearst’s current collection, click here.

Artist of the week: Simone Bodmer Turner is a multidisciplinary artist, creating furniture, ceramics, lighting, and decorative objects. Her new collection of ceramics - which she has titled “Spade Vessels” - are inspired by the Massachusetts countryside. Organically shaped, wide mouths at the top, and taking the silhouette of a classic urn. For more information on Simone Bodmer Turner and her work, click here.

Ritual to implement: Box breathing when your chest feels slightly tightened and your mind is entering a dizzy fog. Inhaling for five, holding for five, exhaling for five, holding for five. Repeat at least five times. Knowing and coming back to the fact we inherently have this breathe within us that can heal, ground, and soothe us in any given moment.
Place to daydream about: Whimsical gardens, poolside romance, and a Wes Anderson facade. Mount Nelson in Cape Town is the hotel that transports you into a world of camp and pomp. Set next to mountains and sprinkled with palm trees, you can also enjoy access to the sea and wineries. A fully luxurious vacation mode. Book your stay here.

Personal insight of the week: “The impulse to write things down is a peculiarly compulsive one, inexplicable to those who do not share it, useful only accidentally, only secondarily, in the way that any compulsion tries to justify itself. I suppose that it begins or does not begin in the cradle. Although I have felt compelled to write things down since I was five years old, I doubt that my daughter ever will, for she is a singularly blessed and accepting child, delighted with life exactly as life presents itself to her, unafraid to go to sleep and unafraid to wake up. Keepers of private notebooks are a different breed altogether, lonely and resistant rearrangers of things, anxious malcontents, children afflicted apparently at birth with some presentiment of loss.” ―Joan Didion, Slouching Towards Bethlehem

Home of the week: One would not assume a tropical modern oasis infused with classic New England bones would create an ambiance of magic but this home does just that. Built in 1968 and renovated by Sashya Thind and her husband, this home is rich, warm, and historic. Photographed by Jared Kuzia. Featured in Architectural Digest here.

Nostalgic for: Burning mixtapes on CDs for friends. The physical act of it. The limited selection to curate. How those CDs symbolized a moment in your history forever engrained by the exact order and the exact selection of songs.
Questions to ask at the dinner table:
What is one project or idea you've always dreamed of pursuing?
Do you believe synchronicities are signs or coincidences? Why?
How do you define your authentic self, and how do you express it?
Question to ask yourself this week: Where am I holding onto control in my life and how can I lean into trust just 10% more?
