Sunday Inspiration: Volume 2.15
The Interesting Woman by REVUE

A letter from our Editor-in-Chief: Hello there. To all of the interesting woman who read this newsletter, I am so grateful that you are here. For those that are new this week; welcome and we hope you find an inspirational terminal here at which to dock yourself. Additionally to those that are new this week, I do not typically write a personal segment as the Editor-in-Chief of REVUE. However, this week it was calling me. Perhaps I was feeling extra poignant and filled with grief that the glory days of magazines seem to be over or perhaps it was because I was feeling their resurgence coming. Either way, I have been thinking a lot about how to curate creativity for you so that at the end of each Sunday newsletter, you emerge a more interesting woman; one that is more cultured, connected, and curious. There is something to be said about the constant search for creativity; as if our souls will never stop craving beauty, evolution, and depth. And while that can feel exhaustive to the emotionally sensitive, it is also quite expansive. For no matter how many lifetimes we can go through, there will always be the quest for something that makes our eye settle with wonder; for something that makes our heart flutter with inspiration; for something that shows that a twist of a detail here or there can give the world a new perspective. This is why REVUE exists. Because in world where creativity is consumed through the endless and passive scroll of a fingertip, we deserve a place of curation, quality, and intention. Add a pinch of luxury to that equation and suddenly the mood lifts. Enjoy this week’s edition. May you leave inspired to create, however creating looks like for you. Sincerely, Gabrielle Scout, Editor-in-Chief of REVUE.
Sentiment of the week: “He smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced--or seemed to face--the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
Here’s what is currently inspiring us: The simplicity and power of a light sweater, delicious dinners with loved ones, allowing your jewelry to breathe life into your outfits, taking the train up the coast of California, the idea that you can always try again, start again, begin again, reinventing yourself and knowing the time ahead is great and expansive in comparison to the time behind you, journaling first thing in the morning as your conscious mind awakens, an everlasting bouquet of flowers, Montecito as a quiet getaway, bookstores that mean something, talking about ideas instead of people, this sold-out bag, individuals with points of view regardless of whether or not you possess the same perspective, manicures as a means of elevating your mood, the dream of Lake Como, the promise of a good novel, the powerful bond of female friendships, putting your phone away, perusing exhibits at museums - any time of museum, believing that your desires are already yours.
What we are consuming this week:
Book: Martyr by Kaveh Akbar
Brand of the week: The Millennial Decorator is not just responsible for the renaissance of flat-lays. The Millennial Decorator is responsible for the complete and utter obsession with vintage drops, timeless fashion, and sustainable uniqueness. Started by Julia Rabinowitsch during the height of the pandemic, The Millennial Decorator has grown from an aesthetic account of vintage pieces, luxury goods, and fashion trinkets into a highly sought after and curated vintage brand. Think vintage Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Cartier. She even hunted down the pieces of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy for one of her drops; which took years to source and locate. For those who love vintage, timeless fashion, and culturally rich aesthetics, you have found your new home. Just be sure to be alert; her drops sell out quickly. Follow The Millennial Decorator here.

Artist of the week: David Hockney, one of the prominent figures of the 1960s British Pop Art movement, gives us a masterclass on marrying still life and figure painting. Strikingly intimate yet casual views into the spaces that people occupy; an outdoor pool area, a living room, a garden. He captures California Cool at its finest. At the age of 87, David Hockney is still brilliantly producing with a new exhibit which recently opened at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. For more information on the exhibit, click here.

Ritual to implement: Falling in love with yourself; over and over and over again. Placing self-love before all. Practicing self-love before manifestation. Prioritizing self-love so that your external world can start to bloom.
Place to daydream about: Calamigos Ranch is one of those hotels that immediately transports you into the romanticized and idyllic world of Malibu; the ultimate coastal California experience. Personal insight of the week: You will never be able to control what is happening around you. You will also never be able to control your emotional responses, because they are automatic—just like how your stress response turns on automatically. But you can always choose what you think, say, or do in response to other people, the world around you, or the emotions that are rising up inside of you. That’s the source of all your power.” ― Mel Robbins, The Let Them Theory
What’s on our wishlist: The Fleura Porcelain Vase Eternity Roses by Venus et Fleur
Reordering this week: Rosemary and Clary Sage Hand Soap by Flamingo Estate
Home of the week: Instead of highlighting one home this week, we decided to highlight photos from many different homes that speak to us. A moodboard, if you will. Because sometimes when you create a collage of the things you love the most - interior decor, architecture, furniture, staircases, and floor-to-ceiling windows - a spark ignites within. Consider this a barrage of inspiration to awaken your soul to the beautiful aesthetics of life.

Nostalgic for: Late nights on AIM.
Questions to ask at the dinner table:
If your life were a painting, what would the central theme or image be?
If you had unlimited resources, what’s the first thing you’d build or create?
How do you define your authentic self, and how do you express it?
Question to ask yourself this week: Where can you love yourself more this week?
