Sunday Inspiration: Volume 1.32

All of the inspiration, content, and intentions of the week so that you can arrive the aspirational way.

Sentiment of the week: “I've seen women insist on cleaning everything in the house before they could sit down to write... and you know it's a funny thing about housecleaning... it never comes to an end. Perfect way to stop a woman. A woman must be careful to not allow over-responsibility (or over-respectabilty) to steal her necessary creative rests, riffs, and raptures. She simply must put her foot down and say no to half of what she believes she "should" be doing. Art is not meant to be created in stolen moments only.” ― Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves

Here’s what is currently inspiring us: Rushes of energy that proclaim that the tides are changing; that movement is here; that aliveness is around the corner; that your desires are your reality, elevated undergarments, work meetings where talks of limiting beliefs take center stage instead of strategy, knowing the importance of little luxuries, the reemergence of the fit check, this oil cleanser, grounding your bare feet into the sandy terrain of the beach at least once a week, taking an everything shower, surrendering to the process of letting go, having a glass of champagne for the mundane instead of the celebration, hearing the laughter of a toddler, honoring your time instead of squeezing productivity out of each minute, knowing that the abyss is just as powerful as the presence of things, these earrings.

What we are consuming this week:

House of the week: The way this house lives rent free in our mind; the perfect blend of Palm Springs, Midcentury Modern, and an of-the-times family house. While houses typically illicit some notes (a minor change here, a minor change there), this house is an 11/10. Grab-your-stuff-and-move-in vibes…and for the design-forward, the design-oriented, the design-specific, that is a miracle. This home was imagined, created, and built by Studio AR&D Architects, developed by Developer Beau Laughlin of Framework Design + Build, and interior designed by LAUN. Photography by Lance Gerber. Brand of the week: For those who love color just as much as neutrals, it is time to unite around The Elder Statesman. All of the classics live here - cashmere sweaters, luxury blankets, alpaca yarn scarves - and yet, they live on with a twist; if a twist is what you are in the mood for. Pick up a solid-colored sweater that will become a staple in your wardrobe or a printed loungewear pant to be slightly louder. Even better - you can personalize their pieces making it the ultimate, elevated gift. A brand built on craftsmanship, hand spun yarns, laid back luxury, and cashmere, The Elder Statesman has a light-heartedness that is often absent in luxury goods. Start with: this sweater, this polo, these pants.

Ritual to implement: Revisiting 14-year-old you; telling her how far you have come, whispering specific details into her ears about all of the things she never dreamed were possible, describing the story of your life to her. As future-seekers who are ambitious and crave to bring big dreams into our current and physical reality, oftentimes we forget just how far we have come. See your present day reality through the lens of your 14 year old self. She would be in awe.

Place to daydream about: We are in the dreaming mood; craving the top of luxury. Enter: Mandarin Oriental in Lake Como. A destination that is elevated, classic, and grand. Perhaps our creativity has been running wild lately and a jet-setting moment is in order; a moment that allows us to take a deep breathe and say “Is this truly our beautiful life?” To book The Mandarin Oriental in Lake Como, click here.

What’s on our wishlist: The Perfect Jean by SAME

Reordering this week: Jet Lag Mask by Summer Fridays

Artist of the week: Vivid, saturated, lush, juxtaposition, geometric, rich, bold, California - all words used to describe Hilary Pecis’ work. One cannot call Pecis’ pieces subtle or minimalistic or neutral. Her work with shapes and an explosion of objects make each piece of art distinctly hers. There is an approachability to her pieces - after all, these settings could be your living room, your local gift shop, the pond down the road - and yet there is a magical quality to them as well; a vibrancy that takes the mundane into the magical. Nostalgic for: When there was the time and space to sit at coffee shops for hours: reading, writing, talking with friends, drinking coffee. When there was nowhere to be, nothing to do. The only role that needed to be assumed was the one of a regular at the local coffee shop where the baristas knew your name and order. The days when the days were endless and the coffee shop was the final destination.

Question to ask yourself this week: Which part of me needs the most love this week?

Have a beautiful week. Until next Sunday.

Sincerely,

The REVUE Team
