Sunday Inspiration: Volume 1.30

All of the inspiration, content, and intentions of the week so that you can arrive the aspirational way.

Sentiment of the week: “His heart danced upon her movements like a cork upon a tide. He heard what her eyes said to him from beneath their cowl and knew that in some dim past, whether in life or revery, he had heard their tale before.” ― James Joyce, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

Here’s what is currently inspiring us: The air of December, gratitude as a prerequisite for breathing, these flats, healing the minute and chronic ailments that befall on our bodies, minds, and souls within our modern society that is both glorious but also can be riddled with toxins, choosing ourselves over the potential judgements of others, this face mask, changing your productivity to-do list into a creativity quest, getting into bed early with a delicious novel, hitting reset on your life and entering into a new chapter - unknown as it may be, date nights or date afternoons or date mornings (whatever the parents may squeeze in), revisiting the truth, nostalgia as a way to reconnect with your roots as you form your vision of the future, lighting palo santo, the idea and allure of being bi-coastal, falling in love with the rabbit hole quest of an antique store.

What we are consuming this week:

Podcast: Lauren Santo Domingo - Lessons on Success From Vogue, Personal Style Development, & How to Hustle - The TSC Him & Her Podcast

Brand of the week: There are those moments where capsule collections, minimalistic silhouettes, and quiet luxury are deeply inspiring and necessary. Then, there are the moments where a slight craving for drama is required and celebrated. In those moments, one must look to self-portrait: a design-forward line that takes the classics and dramatizes them just enough to get us minimalists out of our comfort zone. For the indulgently fancy and the glamour seekers, self-portrait is for you. On our current self-portrait wishlist: Crepe Diamante Midi Dress, Crystal Box Clutch, Rhinestone Mesh Cut Out Midi Dress.

Topics to become a more interesting woman:

Artist of the week: Florence Houston is the master of color through the lens of mundane objects. The objects we might forget about; the objects we might overlook. Known for her jelly series, Houston brings reverence into the simplicity of the every day. Follow Florence Houston’s work here.

Ritual to implement: Pausing on the first-thing-in-the-morning coffee and substituting it for a detoxifying cup of warm water and lemon. Then, after at least thirty minutes, drinking that romantic cup of black coffee after consuming bites of food. Ideal for your physical body, hormones, and energy levels.

Place to daydream about: The Santa Monica Proper Hotel. Designed by Kelly Wearstler. A fantastical land of midcentury modern, eccentric details, cool California aesthetics, and luxurious details. To book your stay, click here.

What’s on our wishlist: Hermes Chevre Kelly Elan Shoulder Bag

Reordering this week: Restorative Mask by Oak Essentials

Home of the week: The Jackson Hole, Wyoming home of Lauren Santo Domingo. A midcentury take on a ski house sans the decorative cliches of mountain chalets with all of the design-forward sophistication. Designed by Andre Mellone. Photographed by Adrian Gaut. Featured in Architectural Digest.

Nostalgic for: When the internet was just a metaphor for the high school quad - filled with all of your friends, acquaintances, and those within your social eco-system. When the internet was just another modality in which to connect to those that you connected with IRL. When the internet didn’t involve the words, opinions, and images of others that we did not know. When the internet was just a digital representation and experience of our actual lives.

Question to ask yourself this week: In what areas do I get to take better care of myself?

Have a beautiful week. Until next Sunday.

Sincerely,

The REVUE Team
